This policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use at L&S Gifts (ls-gifts.co.uk), and the choices you have. Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Some are essential to make the shop work; others are optional and only used with your consent.
Your choices
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks you to Accept or Decline optional cookies. If you decline, only the strictly necessary cookies below are used — no optional cookies are set, and any that exist are removed. You can change your mind at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
These are required for the website and shop to function — for example keeping your basket together between pages and remembering your cookie choice. They are exempt from consent under UK law (PECR) because the service you’re asking for can’t work without them.
- mg_consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies. Lasts 12 months.
- wp_woocommerce_session_* — keeps your basket and checkout session working. Lasts 2 days.
- woocommerce_cart_hash & woocommerce_items_in_cart — help the shop update your basket contents correctly. Session cookies (deleted when you close the browser).
- wordpress_* / wp-settings-* — only set for site administrators who log in; not set for shoppers.
Functional storage (only when you use the feature)
- mg_wishlist (browser local storage, not a cookie) — only created if you tap the heart to save an item to your wishlist. It stays on your own device, is never sent to us or anyone else, and you can clear it by clearing your browser data.
Optional cookies (only if you accept)
If you accept cookies, our shop software (WooCommerce) sets the following first-party cookies to record where an order came from (for example, whether you found us via a search engine or a social link) so we can understand what’s working and improve the shop. These are not set if you decline.
- sbjs_current, sbjs_first, sbjs_session, sbjs_udata, sbjs_migrations, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_first_add — first-party order-attribution cookies. Lifespans range from the browsing session up to 6 months.
We don’t currently use any third-party advertising or analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel). If we introduce any in future, they will only run with your consent through the same banner, and this policy will be updated.
Payments
When you pay at checkout, our payment providers (such as Stripe or PayPal) may set their own cookies on their services to process your payment securely and prevent fraud. These are strictly necessary for taking your payment and are covered by the provider’s own privacy and cookie policies.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the basket and checkout from working.
